Books

I'm even managing to read a few books.
Tried Eric Claptons autobiography. Interesting times in his early musical years but then he lurches from excess to excess. Drugs, alcohol and then even more nauseatingly love and religion. Yech!!!
Now reading Fingerprints of the Gods by Graham Hancock which I've had for a while. Loving the theories.

huh, Fingerprints of God i want to check out now. I am anthropologist in my first life but i cannot quite imagine a paradigm trapping archaeologists from making new discoveries... is the book along these lines? that is what i got from amazon.

I guess the book examines the probability that advanced scientific thought and particularly astrology was around long before (8000 years) 'civilisation' was supposed by archaeologists to have started and cites endless examples that an ancient people knew about precession which has only just been calculated with the same precision with modern equipment.
I'm hooked, it explains a lot.

Hey there buddy... been a while... I know... I was looking back through your posts and noticed the one about Fern... I was thinking about her there yesterday and went on the search... maybe we should start up a fund or a campaign to being her back... like putting up posters for a lost cat or something...

Anyways... as always it's a pleasure to stop by your site and say hi... still love your eye for the photograph and your turn with the word... and as you mentioned in the post on Fern... the honesty...

Even though we sometimes censor ourselves in this forum... it's a comfort for me to know that it's not the content... it's not what we say here that counts... it's that we say it to begin with...
\
Thanks for writing and being part of this great community we've got...

Take care Chook...

If you want to read a great book I will suggest GOOD TIMES by Edward Abbey.

An odd title for what may be the future of an ugly America but it's very interesting.

Of course as America goes to hell most of the rest of the world will also be effected.

"Even though we sometimes censor ourselves in this forum..."

hey Jon... for censoring 'ourselves' i can find different reasons though all seem to me irrational... but i cannot dig the reason to censor others...

think our main purpose on this forum is DIALOG... to share and bond...
so what is your reason for censoring the crow?!
:)
couldn't it all be different if you said what really happened? you were searching for dear Fern.... the crow knew about a post Dave wrote about her deleting her blog and put the address in your blog...

this could create a web of friendship... showing that all of us care for each other... thus affecting others in a good way...

i may sound selfish and childish... but small deeds are signs of big thoughts...
;)
why should i be ignored? because i do not belong? why? because i'm from east? i'm iranian? i'm a woman? i'm a crow? or...
:)
don't you think such discriminations can lead to bad things...
crows tell what bothers them in their friends' faces... they do not backbite nor do they keep grudges...

Dave... sorry to write this here... i felt more at home here...
:D

Dave, a book i really enjoyed reading years ago and keep reading parts of it every now and then:

Games People Play
(The Psychology of Human Relationships)
by Eric Berne

have you read it?

HB...it's not that love and religion are nauseating just the way he used them as another excess

Hey Hopper...so good to hear from you again.
Fern drops by so I know she is listening. I miss her site though.
I guess it's a different censoring than when talking face to face because you can't 'read' the face. Maybe it is better to say it is an unrevealing. I do talk about what is important to me and there are some things which I keep to myself which would have no bearing on that importance.
You are right of course in that opening a discussion is the biggest step but I think as you become more familiar with each other less is unrevealed
Take care too

Billy....thanks for the tip, I haven't read it.
No I'm not going to be affected by the downgrade of America. I am a resourceful bloke like you and don't need a lot to live on

HB...don't be sorry for using this site for dialogue. That you feel more comfortable to do it here is a breakthrough of sorts. Hope you two can work something out and feel free to continue.
No I haven't read the book, thanks for the recommendation.
With love

Chook,

I notice that if I jump around the blogs I see a lot of the same names popping up. I know the blogosphere is huge, but I must be in a neighborhood or something, and I feel like I've got great neighbors. All of them creative and thoughtful. I really liked Fern's site. I thought her writing was powerful and drew the reader in. I find this same quality in writing by the Crow, and I like a little bit of BBC on the side (how's that for bad blog humor?). That guy slays me.

It's true, yes, that when I came through here the other day it was because the Crow gave me a link to the post you put up about Fern. Thinking back it would have mattered less to have said so then. The omission of that fact was in no way meant as a slight against a friend who I respect most because she is a woman, is Iranian. I would never slight her candor or her rigor. She's right to call me out on stuff like this. My comment was a weak attempt at tact, thinking it may be better to say, I was reading through your site when... rather than, I came here to ask you specifically about some other person. I had been searching around for Fern and left messages on a few sites that she visits. I apologize for not being more straightforward with that. She has since shown up but it seems that another old friend is slipping away...

Crow,

A quote from Nietzsche:

You had not yet sought yourselves when you found me. Thus do all believers; therefore all belief is of so little account.

Now I bid you lose me and find yourselves; and only when you have all denied me will I return to you...

Why have you disabled the comments on your site?

You absolutely Must Read Hancock's "Underworld" --- that's a real mind-opener. In it he fully develops his thesis about pre-historic civilisations and the truth in myths of the flood. With photographs... Fascinating stuff.
